Here’s what no-one tells you about when you start practising Yoga
Many of us know the more obvious benefits of Yoga like pain management or better flexibility. But here’s the thing, Yoga does so much more than that! It helps you:
-feel calmer
Poses like forward folds activate the parasympathetic nervous system, directing your body & mind to feel calmer and more centred. So feeling stressed? Yoga.
-sleep better
The neurotransmitters that are released when the parasympathetic nervous system is activated also tell your body to relax, helping you fall asleep faster and deeper. So, trouble sleeping? Yoga.
-feel more confident
Yoga helps you with your self-awareness and helps develop a better sense of self or presence. This makes you feel better about yourself and builds your confidence as a result. So, feeling a little insecure? Yoga.
-build better boundaries
With greater self-awareness comes more clarity on what does and doesn’t feel right for you. Making physical boundaries in a movement practice helps you develop them in other aspects of your life. So, having trouble saying no? Yoga.
These are just what have rolled off the top of my head!
Other benefits include help with focus so you can be more productive…help with balance and dexterity so you age better & avoid injury…help with behaviour management in kids…I could go on and on.
So, if you’re still on the fence about starting Yoga, I hope this gives you the nudge to give it a go. And if you feel that we would be a good fit to practice together, don’t hesitate to check out my offerings or get in touch.
